The idea for WTX Mahjong came to life on the back of a napkin during a weekend getaway to Marathon, TX. I had been playing mahjong for a while and even participated in a few tournaments. I loved the social side of mahjong – meeting new players and having something to chat about with my mom friends besides our kids and work!

Winning was even better. I would spend hours researching how to improve and learn new game strategies. It got even more fun when my mahjong group started keeping time and score. We played faster, played smarter, and it kept us coming back for more!

Now, I'm excited to bring competitive play to my home in West Texas. Midland loves mahjong, and the vision for WTX Mahjong is to create a space where players can compete and experience the game in a new way. I know competition isn't for everyone, and that's totally fine. WTX Mahjong welcomes all skill levels – "Flowers," "Birds," and "Dragons" will all find a seat at our tables.
